Everything your site needs to stay up is inside the fee: serving it, renewing its certificate, keeping backups and letting you change it whenever you like.
Why it is needed
A website is not a static medium but software exposed to the internet. Certificates expire, vulnerabilities are published and browsers change their behaviour. Without maintenance, it is common for some function to stop working correctly within a year, with no one noticing until a visitor points it out.

One fee, and it both builds and maintains
There is one fee per plan, and everything above is inside it: the site served, its backups, its certificate and the editor open. Building, editing and publishing one page costs nothing.
No minimum term, and nothing lost
Cancel whenever you like and billing stops at the end of the period you have already paid for. When that date arrives your site stops being published, but it is not deleted: it stays saved with its words, its photos and its editor, and it comes back exactly as it was as soon as you take out a plan again. And the domain is in your name from day one, so there is nothing to claim from anyone.
